    Leadership, Education, Workforce Development, and Legislative Affairs

    Leadership Develop local community leaders and promote their service to the county

      • Sponsor and coordinate Leadership Heard
      • Sponsor and coordinate the Heard Youth Leadership Academy
      • Facilitate Leadership alumni projects and programs
      • Promote the participation of Leadership alumni in community and government organizations
      • Nominate alumni for regional and state leadership program opportunities

    Education –  Support and recognize achievements in education and increase rates of educational attainment

      • Sponsor and coordinate the STAR Student/Teacher Recognition
      • Host Educators Appreciation Day
      • Collaborate in local and regional educational programming to promote developing a skilled workforce
      • Sponsor and coordinate State Chamber GOAL Occupational Award

    Workforce Development Support the cultivation and retention of a prepared workforce in Heard County

      • Co-sponsor the high school Job Shadowing Day in February; co-host recognition luncheon
      • Support and serve in advisory positions for theHeardCountyHigh Schoolbusiness programs andWestGeorgiaTechnicalCollege
      • Monitor and participate in local, regional and state workforce development initiatives

    Legislative Affairs Support the legislative interests of the Chamber and its member businesses

      • Develop a legislative agenda for adoption by the Board
      • Monitor and communicate to the membership on federal, state and local legislation
      • Sponsor discussions of issues through a “Town Hall” forum
      • Participate in legislative agenda development/support of US Chamber, Georgia Chamber and Georgia Economic Developers Assoc.
      • Sponsor and coordinate the Fall Legislative Luncheon
      • Support Heard Community Partnership for continued communication between local agencies and businesses.
